Hi,

I've installed Webmin from the SuSE 9.0 Pro DVD, but when I try to connect
to it in Konqueror I get the following message:

An error occured while loading http://localhost:10000/:

Could not connect to host localhost (port 10000)

Why? Has anyone got a clue?

Go into yast -> system -> runlevel editor, and enable webmin.

If it still doesnt work, check your firewall

I know why it doesn't work!

It is because of my router (D-Link, DI-604). Webmin works wonderfully well
when I connect the computer directly to my cable modem.

How can I configure my router?

Hi Carl, I had the same issue when I first installed webmin a few years
back, what you need to do is enter the actual IP of the box as you don't
have "localhost" in your dns lookup, so the web browser doesn't resolve the
above address.

With my box the IP is 10.0.0.4, so I enter https://10.0.0.4:10000 and all
plays well...

Webmin is a great tool for us command line challenged folks ;^}

Carl
as root
$ rcwebmin status
should show if its running or not. To start:-
$ rswebmin start
To get its to start on boot try YaST (see one of the other posts) or
$ checkconfig -a webmin

Change the 'http' to 'https' and see if that helps.
